Pear and Plum Still Life, Palette Knife Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 6x8" Oil on canvas panel, sold

Have not done a still life, or a palette knife painting for a while, so this one was in my comfort zone.

SOLD

I naturally tend to lean towards cool colors, so I had fun working all my favorite color relationships.

This scene is a repaint, from years ago.  I couldn't find the original photograph, but I did have a photo of the first painting, so I used that as a guide.  The first painting was done with a brush, which is why I decided to mix it up a little, by using a palette knife this time around.

Hope you enjoy it!

I have been accused of having to many grayed down hues in my art, so recently, I an trying to focus on more vibrant color....no more pasty pastels!

I would like to report, that my tube of white paint is lasting longer, but it is too soon to tell.

Photo from my customer!

I am trying to catch up from several weeks away, so today, I am posting something a little different.  One of my customers was kind enough to send me images, of my art on her wall, and I thought it would be fun to post today.

She was in the process of remodeling her kitchen and wanted a pop of color on one wall.

After many emails and conversations, she decided on these three giclee' prints on canvas.  We decided to have a large print in the center and two slightly smaller prints on the sides.

The lemon painting and the artichoke painting were from a farmer's market in Rome, Italy.  They brought back wonderful memories for me.

She was so excited and thrilled with the results.  Thank you, Rose, for sharing this image with me.

Thanks for reading my blog today.

Pear Still Life, "Pears with Back Lighting" 6x8" Oil, SOLD

It has been cloudy and kind of dreary here for the past week or two.  I prefer to work from images and I count on this time of the year to give me the natural light I use.

SOLD

This is not the bright light I usually have streaming in this window.  These pears look a little on the moody side.

I have another version of these pears coming up soon.

I find one of most biggest difficulties in painting small is constantly trying to find new and interesting compositions.  Changing from bright to soft light has helped.  How do you daily painters handle this issue?

Palette Knife Still Life Painting, "Vase and Pears" 10x10"

$170 + 13

I painted this a few weeks ago at the Student Artist's Guild.  My paint group meets there every Monday morning.  It's in a very large loft area that is equiped with easels, many windows, props, stages for models and any kind of music you may want to hear.  It's really like an artist's dream come true!

On this day, I came equiped with three pears and was arranging lights to get the best shadows etc, when I spotted this large ceramic jar.  I was not too inspired by the pears, but the jar got me excited.
It's not always easy being creative.....
