Flower Painting | Floral Still Life | Small Oil Painting | Daily Painting | Geranium Joy by Carol Schiff 8x10" Oil

What could be cheerier on a dreary day that a bright red flower painting?  Geraniums are always a favorite in my home.  This one is painted on stretched canvas and looks fantastic in a bold black frame.

Once again, my goal was to keep my colors clean and bright and my strokes simple and bold. I think I achieved my goals in this flower painting.  Thanks for viewing my daily painting today.

Flower Painting | Floral Still Life | Small Oil Painting | Rhododendron by Carol Schiff 6x8 Oil

Still painting flowers!  Hope you have not tired of them yet.  I will try to break up the flower posts with other subject matter, just to keep you awake.

$95 + 6.50

This petite bouquet of rhododendron blossoms grew next to my house in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  I snipped a few and placed them in a jelly jar on my kitchen window sill.  I love the effect of the darkened flowers with the bright light flowing in behind them.

My goal with these little works is to keep strong basic shapes and let the viewer's eye fill in missing pieces.  As you can see from this photo, the paint is thick and the strokes are few.

Happy Morning to you!

Small Floral Still Life, Daily Painting, "Purple and Yellow" , SOLD

Today I am posting another of my small floral still life series.  I think this one is particularly perky with its polk a dot red mug.

$96. + 6.50

I am finding this series so relaxing to paint.....just what I need during the hectic holiday season.

Yesterday I spent the morning baking and running errands, at 1:00 sharp, my paint group, Pieces of Eight invaded my home for a group project.  I was still cleaning up after their departure when my husband came home with my 10 year old grandson, Trevor.  They had a session of touch football in the front yard while I jumped in the shower and readied myself for a holiday party and play.  Whew!  It makes me tired to just think of it, but it was  a great day.  Although you won't see this post for a while, I am writing it on the morning of our Pieces of Eight Christmas Sale and All Around Great Time.  In a short 45 minutes the fun begins!

So I am enjoying this short moment of inactivity.

Are you ready for the holidays?  I still have to shop, bake, cook.........the list never ends.

Small Floral Still Life | Flower Painting | Daily Painting | Rose Bush and Reflection by Carol Schiff | SOLD

I am continuing on with my series of small floral still life paintings in oil.  They are just too much fun to stop!  This is one of my all time favorite daily paintings.

SOLD

Of course, this painting has all my favorite colors....the rose, purple, turquoise, green and yellow seem to sing.

This little blossom makes the composition special.

When I first started painting, I worked in pastel for eight years, before moving on to oil.  One of my favorite pastels was a painting I did from the same photograph.

This painting is 20x25"....much larger and still one of my all time favorites.  I must say though, that I prefer the new version over this.

Which do you prefer?
